Netball Australia and Nissan have joined together in an all-of-sport partnership, including Australia’s new league, Suncorp Super Netball.

The partnership will see Nissan and its national retail network integrate closely with the sport, from grassroots all the way up through to the Australian Diamonds. It establishes Nissan as a Major Partner of Suncorp Super Netball, as well as the Official Automotive Partner of the Australian Diamonds.

The automotive company will be directly aligned with six of the eight Suncorp Super Netball clubs, in addition to Netball Tasmania, Netball ACT, and Netball NT, providing benefits to netball communities across the country.

Netball Australia Chief Executive Kate Palmer welcomed Nissan to the netball family in what is an exciting time for the sport.

“We are delighted to have Nissan on board as a major partner for netball in Australia,” Palmer said.

“The establishment of the new Suncorp Super Netball league marks a pivotal moment for netball and women’s sport in general, and we are looking forward to working with Nissan to continue this momentum into the future.

“This partnership is about amplifying all the things that are great about us and all the things that are great about Nissan. Having such a massive footprint across this country, from both netball and Nissan, means that our local netballers will also benefit,” she said.

Managing Director and CEO of Nissan Australian, Richard Emery, identified the natural synergy between netball and Nissan.

“Together, Netball and Nissan are a logical and strong fit,” said Emery. “With more than one million participants, many of them young families, netball is one of Australia’s most popular sports. And given the popularity of our SUV and crossover models, many of which are chosen by families, this partnership is a natural fit.

“Nissan Motor Company Australia is celebrating 50 years in 2016 and to be part of an enduringly popular sport that continues to grow is a boon for our brand. Netball has more-than two million local fans, many located in rural and regional Australia, and I’m thrilled we are joining their community,” he said.

The partnership announcement follows the recent announcement that Suncorp would become the Principal Partner of Netball Australia and its newest national netball league.

Eight clubs will contest the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball season, broadcast through Nine Network and Telstra.
