Taking place from 16-19 October at Australia’s favourite holiday destination, NetFest has quickly become a `must do’ event for all netballers. It is now firmly entrenched as netball’s mass participation event for female and mixed teams of players aged 18 and over.
The popularity of the event has grown significantly since its inception in 2011. Last year, more than 200 teams took part across the beach and outdoor competitions.
NetFest ambassador Liz Ellis has urged those who took part last year to enter their teams to make sure they don’t miss out on the fun again: make sure that 24 May is in your diaries as that’s when `early bird’ entries open.
“I’m just so excited to be returning to the Gold Coast for NetFest 2014”, Ellis, the former Australian captain and now ANZ Championship commentator, said.
“NetFest is all about doing what you love – playing netball, meeting new people, catching up with old mates and just having a ball on the Gold Coast.
“It’s always a fun weekend and everyone walks around with smiles on their faces.
“There are lots of social events going on and it’s chance for people to have a bit of an end-of-season trip, do some socialising and meet some other players not only from around Australia but around the world.
“The Gold Coast has something for everyone. When you’re not playing netball there’s always something to do.”
The on-court action will be supported by a program of social events that includes the official opening followed by a celebrity beach netball match on Thursday, 16 October and, of course, the ever popular NetFest Saturday night party.
