The Australian Diamonds won’t lack motivation heading into the fourth Test of the 2013 Constellation Cup against the New Zealand Silver Ferns at Rod Laver Arena on Monday night.

Leading the five-Test series 2-1, the Diamonds have the opportunity reclaim the Constellation Cup title and take a psychological advantage heading into next year’s Commonwealth Games.

“It’s all the motivation that we need, we’ve obviously come off a disappointing international season last year so it’s regaining some pride for us and giving us that mental edge heading into the Commonwealth Games next year,” Australian captain Laura Geitz said.

“This is the last time we play the Kiwis before the Commonwealth Games so we’re really keen to put out some strong performances.”

The Diamonds, who dropped the first game of the trans-Tasman series in Invercargill, look to have regained its confidence, playing with the speed and precision synonymous with Australian teams.

The victories in Auckland and Adelaide firmly resigning the Diamonds five-game losing streak firmly to the history books as the new era grow in confidence with every outing.

“We’re really excited and happy about our win in Adelaide the other night but it counts for nothing now,” Geitz said.

“It’s a quick turn around and the Kiwis will throw everything at us on Monday night because they’ll be looking to regain some pride so it’s going to be a huge game.

“The confidence in each other as a playing group (has improved over the series), this is a young team with new faces, we’ve lost of lot of experience, so I think we’re finally gelling nicely together.”

Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena will host international netball for the first time on Monday.

The Australian Open court will be transformed into netball’s centre stage for just the second time following the ANZ Championship semi-final in 2012.

“It’s really exciting, I know the Vixens girls that have played there rave about it so hopefully it’s a huge crowd tomorrow night, it will be really exciting to play there,” Geitz said.
