Thanks to a special promotion for Netball Australia’s registered Netball Schools and Schools Ambassadors in SA, 800 individuals attended the match, seeing the Diamonds take a 2-0 advantage in the Series.
The Netball Schools Ambassador Program has been designed to ensure that netball has a continuous presence at schools and ultimately becomes the sport of choice for many students.
Netball SA’s School and Engagement Manager Rachel Heywood said, “The Netball Schools Ambassador program is a great opportunity to identify advocates of netball within the school environment, providing a strong link between state sporting organisations and local schools.
“The program provides teachers the opportunity to not only be kept up to date with netball opportunities for their students, but provides a great personal development opportunity through the use of the free Netball Schools resources.”
Heywood continued, that the opportunity to attend last night’s match is an example of the benefits available to those promoting netball through schools. “The recent Quad Series Match ticket offer open to all South Australia Netball Schools Ambassadors was a great demonstration of how being involved in this program can provide exciting opportunities for the wider school community, whereby 800+ school children and their parents were able to witness their netball idols in action last night!”
Netball Australia’s Schools Engagement Manager, Trevor Robertson echoed Heywood’s sentiments, “becoming a Netball Schools Ambassador benefits the individual and their school with opportunities to engage in netball in many different ways.
“The Netball Schools Ambassador is our conduit into their school community, with one of their roles being to notify and share the Teacher Curriculum Resources; from time to time opportunities to attend netball games in their state do arise, and we are excited for those in SA who attended last night’s match.”
