Help us give every girl a chance

nf_Confident Girls graphics_NEWS FEEDAustralia’s netball community is being urged to dig deep and raise up to $250,000 in 2016 to support a major fundraising campaign of the Netball Foundation, Confident Girls: Give every girl a chance.

The campaign, which aims to make a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged girls across Australia, has been officially launched for 2016.

In March 2015 Netball Australia launched the Netball Foundation – run in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation – to raise money to help women and girls achieve their full potential, both on and off the court.

Confident Girls has already supported more than 10,000 girls through community netball programs.

Netball Foundation Chair Noeleen Dix is excited about the potential of Confident Girls in being able to introduce more young women and girls to the number one female participation sport in the world.

More importantly, we’re giving girls a chance to have fun, make friends and be healthy, confident and resilient.

“Australian women know how important their social networks are and netball friendships are at the core of that network for many of us,” Dix, a former Australian representative, said.

“Confident Girls hopes to provide that same opportunity for those that can least afford to get into netball to discover those networks and enjoy the game.

“Netball is in just about every community in Australia but there are some girls who can’t access it. Confident Girls aims to provide programs to take netball to everyone – helping girls to thrive.

Although the Netball Foundation is open to donations throughout the year, National Netball Day on 4 June is a great opportunity for clubs and associations to hold their own Confident Girls fundraiser.

If netball has been good to you, then give someone else the opportunity to get a taste of it and enjoy its benefits on and off the court,” Dix said.

Ever dollar donated to Confident Girls goes towards funding netball programs, equipment and coaching in disadvantaged communities across Australia through Inclusion NetSetGO and community programs.

Here’s how your donation can help:

  • $15 pays for a Participant pack, including a take-home netball.
  • $25 pays for a disadvantaged girl to try netball at an Inclusion NetSetGO clinic.
  • $50 pays for a coordinator to complete the Foundation Coaching Course.
  • $200 pays for a disadvantaged girl to try netball at an 8 to 10 week Inclusion NetSetGO or community program.
  • $250 pays for a coach to mentor community volunteers.
  • $300 buys all the balls and equipment for an Inclusion NetSetGO or community program for 40 disadvantaged girls.

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
