Grassroots clubs well equipped thanks to Foxtel

DfDSome much needed netball equipment was provided to four grassroots clubs in Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT thanks to this year’s Foxtel All-Stars Diamonds for Dreams program.

During Australia’s recent Real Insurance Netball Test Series against New Zealand and England, every goal shot by Diamonds stars Caitlin Bassett, Natalie Medhurst, Tegan Caldwell and Caitlin Thwaites was cheered hard by the lucky clubs, who received balls, bibs and quality goal post pads.

As a proud supporter of grassroots netball in Australia, Foxtel was delighted to be able to hand over this valuable equipment to:

Broadmeadows Netball Association

With over 20 children who are new to netball, the Association aims to double this in 2015 and include the many cultures present in Broadmeadows area. The aim is to have a multicultural competition that allows new and experienced players to develop skills, team work, fitness and have fun. Many cultures are already represented in their eight junior teams, including two indigenous teams.

Mingara Killarney District Netball Club

Located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, the club (pictured above) was in desperate need of new match and training balls after some were stolen during the year. Others went missing, meaning it lacked much-needed equipment to start training for the 2015 season. A lack of funds meant the it was difficult to replace the equipment so the club was delighted that the Diamonds For Dreams program could assist.

Lancaster Football Netball Club

The club plays in the Kyabram and District Football League, located near Bendigo, and boasts 11 teams ranging in ages from 6 – 50 years old. The club has a goal of installing new netball courts as the current ones have cracks in the surface and puddle with water when it rains. The club hopes some new equipment will mean better training sessions and inspire its players to achieve their future goals.

Bullants Netball Club

The South Canberra Club has 13 teams, whose members they describe as determined, friendly, energetic, full of pride, talented, fun, passionate, caring and involved. These qualities make it a fun environment to be part of. The Bullants look to the Diamonds as its inspiration and are always trying to teach its coaches some new tips learned from watching the national team in action.

As the official sponsor of Netball Australia, the Australian Diamonds and the ANZ Championship, Foxtel is proud to support netball from the grassroots right through to the elite and is committed to building a better netball experience for players, fans and spectators alike.
