The Australian Diamonds are out to make amends in the third Test of the Constellation Cup, after a two-goal loss in Launceston on Wednesday.

The Diamonds have a hard task ahead of them, facing the Silver Ferns in Auckland. The team has not had much time to lick their wounds, with just one training session before game day.

Both teams will be hungry for the victory, with the Constellation Cup first and foremost determined by wins. The Diamonds have made it clear that they were not happy with their performance in Launceston, and will come out firing.

Watch the match up between Madi Robinson and Laura Langman in the wing. Langman put out a strong performance against Robinson in the second Test, stifling the Diamonds’ transition into attack, however it was Robinson had the upper hand in Test one.

High-flying Anna Harrison was a key component to the defensive line of the Silver Ferns in Test two. Her influence will need to be limited by a moving Diamonds shooting circle in Test three.

From the coach:

“We were disappointed with our performance on Wednesday night and have spent time on some honest assessments of our individual and collective performances.

“The Ferns played extremely well in Launceston, they brought some intensity and urgency into their game and we expect nothing less from them. I think we will get that again on Saturday night.

“We need to show a little bit more composure and bring some variety to our attack. It’s going to take all twelve of these athletes to bring home two victories in New Zealand.”

Fast Facts:

  • Madi Robinson will play her 50th game for Australia, should she take to court
  • The Diamonds have won their last six encounters against the Silver Ferns in New Zealand.
  • This will be the tenth time the Diamonds and Silver Ferns have played at Vector Arena, the Diamonds having won five of their previous nine encounters.
