After arriving in the United Kingdom on Monday afternoon, the Australians were put through their paces with a light court session at Wright Robinson Sport College.
“There were a few girls dusting off the cobwebs after the really long flight,” Australian midcourter Kim Green said.
“It was nice to relax for the last couple of days but it’s time to get down to business now.”
“We’ve been excited and looking forward to the session, (Caitlin) Bassett said she was quite happy to get onto court and do something she’s good at as opposed to swimming and weights so it was really nice to be training.”
Green, the daughter of four-time Commonwealth Games gold medal swimmer Denise Langford, is looking to following in her mother’s 1970 Edinburgh footsteps with gold in Scotland.
Preparing for her second Commonwealth Games after the disappointment of 2010, Green said the team is building towards their arrival in Glasgow on Sunday.
“We’ve got a practice game tomorrow (Thursday) and we’re really looking forward to that and put some good performances on court but we know that it’s a building process instead of getting out there and playing great netball,” Green said.
“We want to be peaking when we get to the Commonwealth Games village.”
The Australian Netball Team kick off their 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games campaign against Wales on Thursday 24 July at 1.30pm (10.30pm AEST).
