Australian Fast5 Netball World Series Team named

 

Netball Australia have named the team who will represent Australia at the Fast5 Netball World Series at Melbourne’s Hisense Arena this October 28 and 29.

The team is bolstered by five current Australian Diamonds squad members and four athletes from the 2016 Australian Fast5 team, as well as some of the stars of Suncorp Super Netball.

Netball Australia have named a 10-player team for the 2017 Fast5 Netball World Series.

“Suncorp Super Netball has shown the depth of talent in Australian netball, so we were spoiled for choice when selecting the Australian Fast5 team,” newly-appointed Australian Fast5 coach Stacey Marinkovich said.

“We have selected a strong team with a variety of combinations that will suit the Fast5 format. We’re ready to bring our best game and push for that gold medal.”

Australia will take on the world’s best netballing nations; New Zealand, England, Jamaica, Malawi and South Africa, and will be working to take out their first Fast5 Netball World Series gold medal.

“Following the success of last year’s event, we can’t wait to bring the Fast5 Netball World Series back to Hisense Arena in October,” said Netball Australia Chief Executive Officer, Marne Fechner.

“11,500 fans attended and over 1.4 million viewers tuned in to the Nine Network’s broadcast across the 2016 event, witnessing electrifying netball and entertainment. We’re excited to do it all again.”

All six teams will play six 24 minute games across the two-day series, each team will feature on both days of competition and finals will be held on Sunday.

Fast5 netball features dynamic rules changes, including; five players-a-side, shortened quarters, multiple point shots and double point power plays.
