Now into their sixth year, Mintaro Manoora Sporting Club is one of the biggest ANZ NetSetGO centres in South Australia, and was this year named ANZ NetSetGO Centre of the Year, thanks to a competition run by ANZ through their Netball Nation platform.
Chosen from over 280 entries, as a result of best demonstrating its commitment to getting its ANZ NetSetGO participants in the best possible position for modified games, the club’s Anita Fogden is absolutely delighted with the result.
“It’s been a really exciting time for all of the club, especially the girls that participate and their coaches,” Fogden said.
The Mintaro Manoora Sporting club was awarded with the ultimate money-can’t-buy netball experience – a VIP trip to attend the 2016 ANZ Championship Grand Final, where they will present the ANZ Championship medals to the winning team.
Not thinking they would win the major prize, Fogden had the difficult task of allocating tickets. “We had to inform everyone and the only fair way was to draw names out of a hat. All of the parents have been really supportive of the prize, even though it’s quite a big thing for these younger girls to be experiencing.”
Run entirely by volunteers, centre Coordinator, Anita Fogden believes ANZ NetSetGO is a great stepping stone for participants before they begin to play competitive netball.
“Our centre provides exceptional coaches and an environment that is fun, yet where everyone learns at the same time.
“It teaches them the skills required in a fun environment which is suitable for any level of ability. Using modified rules initially helps the girls with their development too.
“Since running the program within our club we have noticed over the years how much better the skills are when girls are ready start competitive games. This gives all the girls lots of confidence,” Fogden said.
