New look to boost profile of umpires

Umpiring_logo_RGB-01A fresh approach has been rolled out to the umpiring community within Australia.

A new brand identity has been developed for both community and high performance umpiring in Australia, demonstrating Netball Australia’s ongoing commitment to recognising umpires as an important contributor to the success of the game.

Netball Australia’s Umpire Development Manager Lainie Houston said it’s an exciting investment into the recognition, recruitment and retention of umpires in the netball family.

“In the past 12 months there has been a strong commitment from Netball Australia to help raise the profile of the outstanding work umpires do at all levels of the sport,” Houston said.

“We respect them for their leadership ability, communication skills, resilience and knowledge of the game.

“The release of the new branding is our way of demonstrating our commitment to raising their profile within the community.”

The umpiring portal on Netball Australia’s website has been updated to make it easier for umpires to access information to support them in their development.

The contribution of umpires to the sport will also be recognised at Netball Australia’s annual awards from this year with the introduction of a new accolade to be presented alongside the coveted Umpire of the Year award.

“In 2015 a new umpire apparel line will also be released on Netball Australia’s online shop,” Houston said.

“Our umpires have enjoyed an increased presence through Netball Australia’s channels over the past 12 months and we hope that their successes inspire the next generation to play their role in contributing to the progression and evolution of the game.”
